A Splash of colour - The Four Shires

A splash of colour
 
The inaugural Art in Woodstock Festival, a celebration of the visual arts, held its celebration and prize giving party at the Marlborough Arms, Woodstock recently.
 
Inidividual art exhibitions showcased 34 artists in 24 venues aroud the town and there was an exhibition of competition winners in the town's historic town hall.
 
A triangular art wall sponsored by Jenks of Oxford was erected in the town sqaure for visitors to contribute to (which was quickly taken over by the children!) There were workshops and demostrations, as well as talks by eminent artists, critics and authorities in their respective fields.
 
Local artist Sarah Moncrieff won the Open Art Competition, sponsored by Senecio, Paul Sansome, from Winchester, won the Samsung Photographic Competition, and children Bonnie Coburn amd James Bailey won the schools' competitions. Plans are already under way to 'paint the town' again next year.
