What's on West Oxfordshire - A Celebration of Visual Arts

The pretty market town of Woodstock will play host to Art in Woodstock, a major visual arts festival from 23th - 28th October 2007. Showcasing work by visiting professional artists and local talent, this brand new initiative will see the whole of Woodstock transformed into a celebration of visual arts.

Individual art exhibitions are to be held around the town in shops and resturants, as well as the local galleries. Art and Photographic competitions will be held, with the finalists' work being exhibited in the Town Hall.

Colin Carritt, the Town Mayor of Woodstock says: "Woodstock has an incredibly active cultural life. Music, literature and the visual arts all play a major role in the life of the town. Concerts, from choral to rock, and literary festivals are already annual fixtures in the town's calender. i welcome the launch of 'Art in Woodstock' supported by Wake up to Woodstock and wish it every success. This festival will complement a thriving commercial arts sector in the town and will draw into this creative flair the town's local population, youngsters, students and older people alike. We hear much about dumbing down these days. In Woodstock we are lifting our sights and aspirations to the skies. Do join us all at Art in Woodstock."

A taster of the events to be held during the week is also shown in the article.
